YMCA Youth Employment Bootcamp

Participant Benefits:

  • 4 weeks of workplace and life skills training (ex: resume writing, interview skills, communication techniques, confidence building etc.)  
  • A 12 week work experience placement made through one of our many employer connections   
  • Paid training to attend workshops ($11.35/hr x 6 hrs a day, 5 days a week)   
  • A free 6 month YMCA membership pass  
  • A loaded compass card to assist with travel costs  
  • Additional short-term training certificates such as First-Aid, Food Safe, Admin. & Leadership training, World Host etc.  


Employer Benefits:

  • Access to a ready to work talent pool (15-30 yrs), trained with certificates relevant to the job such as First Aid CPR-C, Food Safe, World Host, Serving it right. Employers can also advise what training is required and we’ll provide funding for their development 
  • Employee wage subsidy of $8.00 p/h, up to 30 hrs a week for first 12 weeks of employment, amounting to $2900 saving for employers   
  • An assessment of their skills and experience to ensure a suitable fit 
  • Quick turnaround from training to the workplace   


Participant Eligibility Requirements:

  • 15 to 30 years of age
  • Currently unemployed
  • Not attending school
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Confirmed Refugee
  • Facing some barriers to employment

Intake dates for 2018:

  • June 4th, Aug. 7th, Oct. 9th and Dec. 4th

Ideal employment start dates (employment begins after completing initial 4 weeks of training):

  • July 2nd, September 3rd, November 5th and January 7th 2019
