Position Summary:
A Light Duty Cleaner in a pub and restaurant setting is responsible for ensuring a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. This role includes regular cleaning of dining areas, bar sections, restrooms, and kitchen spaces, while following health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Dining & Bar Area Cleaning:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in dining areas, bar sections, and entrances.
Wipe down tables, chairs, bar counters, and booths to remove spills and debris.
Polish and sanitize high-touch surfaces, including door handles and railings.
Empty and clean trash bins, ensuring proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
Restroom Maintenance:
Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and restroom fixtures.
Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Address any restroom maintenance issues, such as clogged drains or leaks, and report them to management.
Kitchen & Food Prep Area Cleaning:
Assist with cleaning kitchen floors, walls, and storage areas to maintain hygiene.
Remove trash, grease, and food waste in accordance with sanitation guidelines.
Clean staff break areas, including tables, chairs, and kitchen appliances.
General Maintenance & Safety:
Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and properly stored.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent contamination.
Use proper cleaning equipment and chemicals in compliance with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
Report any maintenance or repair needs to management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: No formal education required; secondary school education is an asset.
Experience: On-the-job training is provided; previous experience in restaurant or hospitality cleaning is an advantage.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow safety protocols.
Good physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and stand for long periods.
