Reach for the Stars Montessori is looking for an F/T Early Childhood Educator.
Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
Duties
• Plan and lead Montessori-inspired learning experiences that encourage independence, concentration, and hands-on exploration
• Prepare and rotate classroom materials based on children’s interests, developmental stages, and observed progress
• Observe children daily and document learning milestones, social interactions, and areas requiring extra support
• Adapt activities and routines to meet the needs of children with different learning styles and abilities
• Support children in developing practical life skills such as self-care, responsibility, and respectful behavior
• Communicate regularly with parents through informal discussions and written updates about their child’s growth and classroom experiences
• Guide classroom assistants by modeling positive behavior guidance and effective classroom routines
• Maintain classroom organization and learning areas in accordance with Montessori principles and daycare policies
• Participate in team meetings to share observations, plan improvements, and ensure consistent care practices
• Ensure licensing standards, safety procedures, and Montessori classroom expectations are followed at all times
Requirements
• Completion of a post-secondary program in Early Childhood Education (diploma or degree)
• ECE certification and registration with the provincial regulatory body
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience working as an Early Childhood Educator in a licensed childcare setting
• Sound knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate programming
• Experience planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth
• Ability to observe, document, and assess children’s progress and adapt programming as needed
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and licensing regulations for childcare environments
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills to interact professionally with parents, colleagues, and supervisors
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and positive guidance techniques when working with young children
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Clear vulnerable sector police check
• Ability to lift, bend, and engage in active play with children throughout the day
Salary & Benefits
• $27 – $30 / Hour
• Working hours: 30 – 40 hours per week
• 4% vacation pay
• Permanent – Full-time position
• Language of work is English
