Overview

We are seeking a reliable, patient, and experienced Home Child Care Provider to provide full-time care for our young daughter in a private home setting.

This is a hands-on caregiving role requiring continuous 1:1 supervision and assistance with daily living activities. The caregiver will be responsible for supporting the child’s safety, routines, and well-being throughout the day while often working independently in the home.

The role also includes supervision and care of a second school-aged child (7 years old) during after-school hours.

The role requires comfort with structured care routines, mobility support, and assisted feeding in a calm and attentive environment.

Main Responsibilities

Provide continuous 1:1 supervision and in-home child care
Assist with daily living routines including diapering and personal care
Provide physical assistance with lifting, positioning, and mobility support throughout the day
Supervise and support use of mobility aids (e.g. walker) and guided movement activities
Provide assisted feeding (1–2 meals per day) with slow pacing, distraction techniques, and close monitoring during meals
Support structured daily routines including play, rest, and learning activities
Independently support mobility and structured activity routines as directed by parents (e.g. walker sessions, guided movement exercises)
Follow established care plans and adjust daily caregiving activities based on the child’s needs and parent instructions
Use and respond to mixed communication methods (speech, signs, and picture-based communication)
Provide redirection and support during moments of distress to ensure safety and calm
Maintain constant safety awareness due to continuous supervision needs
Perform light housekeeping tasks related to child care (meal preparation, laundry, and organization of child areas)
Provide after-school supervision and care for a 7-year-old child when home from school, including play, routines, and general supervision alongside primary caregiving duties

Qualifications

Experience caring for children required
Experience providing hands-on childcare in a home setting required
Experience supporting children with high-supervision needs is strongly preferred
Experience with assisted feeding, mobility support, or structured caregiving routines is an asset
Ability to safely supervise and physically support a young child with mobility limitations
Comfortable supporting feeding routines requiring slow pacing and close monitoring
Able to follow structured instructions and independently manage daily routines when working alone
Patient, calm, attentive, and safety-focused
CPR/First Aid certification considered an asset

Additional Information

This position is located in a private home environment.
The caregiver will often be working independently with the child.
A calm, consistent, and supportive caregiving approach is essential.
