Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Automotive Service & Technical Operations Supervisor to oversee our operations and technical customer service.
In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of automotive repair, diagnostics, and collision damage to bridge the gap between our mechanical technicians, service advisors, and insurance providers. Job Requirements
Experience (Required): * A minimum of 2 years of hands-on automotive repair and diagnostics experience (proven technical background).
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or technical customer service lead role .
Education: Completion of secondary school or equivalent technical diploma.
Licensing Note: As this position is strictly supervisory and managerial with no hands-on automotive mechanical repair duties, local provincial trade certification (Journeyman/woman prefix) is not required for day-to-day operations.
Core Responsibilities
1. Operations Supervision & Team Coordination 40%
Supervise, co-ordinate, and schedule the daily activities of frontline Automotive Service Advisors, technical customer service representatives, and administrative support staff.
Oversee the intake and processing workflow of vehicles, optimizing the communication bridge between the customer service department and the mechanical/collision repair technicians.
Establish and implement methods to meet operational schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other sub-departments or corporate insurance entities.
Resolve daily operational issues, manage staff performance, and mentor junior service staff on advanced technical customer relations.
2. Technical Appraisal, Estimating & Insurance Liaison 35%
Utilize extensive background knowledge in automotive repair to evaluate complex vehicle damages (both mechanical faults and collision/structural impact).
Review and approve cost estimates, labor-time calculations, and parts requirements prepared by the service advisor team prior to customer or insurance submittal.
Translate complex technical data, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and vehicle blueprints into clear, non-technical explanations to handle high-level customer inquiries and escalations.
Coordinate with auto insurance adjusters and appraisers regarding technical discrepancies, part backorders, and policy compliance for collision claims.
3. Quality Control & Safety Compliance 25%
Perform ultimate Quality Control (QC) inspections and road tests on serviced vehicles to ensure all repairs meet company standards and BC safety regulations before final release to the customer.
Ensure all customer service operations and administrative workflows adhere to company policies and provincial employment standards.
Recommend and implement safety standards for the customer-facing and service bays, ensuring a compliant working environment.
Prepare operational reports, parts inventory forecasting, and cost-benefit analyses for shop management.
