Description: The Home Support Worker will be providing care and companionship for a 78
year-old senior suffering from cardiac, osteoporosis, allergies and arthritis issues. The successful
candidate will administer personal care, which includes preparing and setting up exercise
equipment and assisting in regular exercise (e.g. walking, cycling, swimming, and other
prescribed exercises necessary to manage health condition). They will also provide company and
support for social and recreational activities. Other responsibilities include assisting with
purchasing groceries, and planning and preparing nutritious meals. The candidate will be
responsible for routine light housekeeping and cleaning duties to keep the house clean and
sanitary, including washing dishes and making beds. The candidate must also be comfortable
working in the home with a cat.
Position requirements: Completion of secondary school and a minimum of two years related
work experience as a Home Support Worker for an elderly person in Canada or elsewhere is
required. Nursing experience is an asset. Must be able to communicate fluently in English. The
ideal candidate will be willing to work a flexible schedule and may need to variously work
weekends, evening hours, and statutory holidays occasionally and travel with the employer for
short trips. Must be a Canadian citizen or legally permitted to work in Canada. Strong references
will be required. Must have a BC Class 5 Driver’s licence and a clean driving record and able to
drive employer to appointments.
