Job description

Leadership & Administration

1. Direct, coordinate, and support employees on the afternoon shift.
2. Train, coach, and mentor employees in safe work practices, equipment operation, and production procedures.
3. Promote a positive work environment through respectful and professional communication.
4. Monitor production targets and ensure shift objectives are achieved.
5. Complete and submit daily production reports, safety reports, inspections, and other administrative documentation.
6. Communicate operational issues, maintenance concerns, and staffing requirements to supervisors and management.
7. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
Equipment Operation & Material Processing

8. Complete and submit equipment pre-trip inspection forms and report any defects that may affect safe operation.
9. Operate mobile and stationary equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, bag tippers, front-end loaders, conveyors, and balers.
10. Load and unload recyclable materials from tractor trailers, roll-off trucks, containers, five-ton trucks, and other transport vehicles.
11. Receive, inspect, weigh, record, and scan recyclable materials.
12. Sort and prepare recyclable materials for processing and shipment.
13. Push, dump, or feed recyclable materials onto conveyors, baler belts, silos, or bunkers.
14. Stack, stage, and organize processed materials for storage and shipment.
15. Assist with troubleshooting minor operational issues and coordinating corrective actions.
16. Perform general housekeeping in the plant, yard, and common areas to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
Quality & Safety

17. Ensure all required safety and quality inspections are completed daily.
18. Enforce company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
19. Conduct workplace observations and address unsafe acts or conditions promptly.
20. Participate in incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety improvement initiatives.
21. Ensure employees are using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
22.Promote compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company policies at all times.

Required qualifications 

• Minimum two (2) years of job experience in a similar role
• Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must have excellent manual dexterity.
• Will perform duties that require repetitive motion.
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Will be required to bend, kneel and climb stairs.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions due to working in a warehouse environment.
