Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Custom Wood Furniture Maker with a minimum of high-school diploma to join our production team. This unique position combines traditional woodworking skills with technical knowledge to create custom wooden components for our LED-backlit signage products. The ideal candidate will apply both scientific principles and craftsmanship to produce high-quality wooden elements that integrate seamlessly with our metal and electrical components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Study and interpret technical drawings, CAD designs, and specifications for custom wooden sign components

• Mark outlines and dimensions of parts on various wood materials according to design specifications

• Operate advanced woodworking machinery including CNC routers, power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers

• Use precision hand tools to cut, shape, and form wooden parts and components for integration with LED systems

• Create custom wooden faces and frames for illuminated address signs

• Trim joints and assemble wooden subcomponents using appropriate adhesives, clamps, and fasteners

• Prepare wooden surfaces for integration with metal components and LED backing systems

• Sand, finish, and apply protective coatings including veneers, stains, and weather-resistant polishes

• Collaborate with metal fabrication and electrical assembly teams to ensure proper fit and function

• Perform quality control checks on finished wooden components

• Repair and refurbish existing wooden signage products as needed

• Estimate materials required and maintain inventory of wood supplies

• Ensure all work meets weatherproofing standards for outdoor applications

 

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (Required)

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a custom wood furniture maker or similar role

• Completion of secondary school

• Strong understanding of wood properties, behavior, and finishing techniques

• Experience with CNC operations and computer-controlled cutting equipment

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files

• Knowledge of various wood types and their applications in outdoor environments

• Familiarity with integration of wood with other materials (metal, acrylic, electrical components)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in cabinetmaking or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience with LED lighting systems or electrical component integration

• Knowledge of weatherproofing techniques for outdoor wooden products
