– Completion of secondary school
Experience:
– Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program OR 3 to 4 years of related work experience
– Experience in renovation and remodeling work is required
– Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
– Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials
– Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
– Demonstrable experience working in extreme cold

Location:
– On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work setting:
– Outdoor and indoor work in extreme weather conditions

– Possible long hours during peak construction season
– Work at heights and with heavy materials
Duties & Responsibilities:
– Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans
– Measure, cut, and install wood, steel and other materials for renovation projects
– Repair and replace structural elements (floors, walls, roofs, framing)
– Install doors, windows, cabinets, drywall, large scale flooring, eavestrough and trim
– Work with subcontractors; including levelling, plumbing, siding, electrical, drywalling, septic, finishing work, mechanical, painting, foundations and heavy equipment
– Installation of Kitchens and bathrooms
– Work on heritage or older buildings, maintaining original features when required
– Ensure work complies with Canadian building codes and Yukon regulations
– Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
– Prepare job sites and clean up after projects
– Handle insulation and weatherproofing (important for Yukon climate)
