Overview

Position Info:

·         Position: Chef

·         Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent

·         Wage: $32.00~$36.00/hour (depending on experience)

·         Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week

·         Number of Positions:  1

·         Work Location: 6-680 Trans Canada Highway, Nanaimo, BC V9S 5R1

Job Duties:

·         Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.

·         Supervise the work of cooks and other kitchen staff.

·         Demonstrate cooking staff to new techniques and equipment.

·         Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.

·         Plan menus and ensure that all food meets established quality standards.

·         Prepare dishes tailored to customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions.

·         Manage the recruitment and hiring of kitchen staff.

·         Coordinate the purchase and repair of kitchen equipment.

·         Maintain records of food cost, inventory and other necessary kitchen supplies.

·         Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking techniques, garnishing, and presentation.

 

Job requirements:

·         Experience: 2~3 years of commercial cooking experience is required

·         Education: Completion of secondary school is required

·         Language: English
