Overview

Bedrock Masonry (2003) Inc. dba Bedrock located at 1320 129 Street, Surrey, BC V4A 3X8 is hiring one full time permanent Bricklayer for various project site locations in Lower mainland, BC. Salary is $38.00 per hour.

 

Duties:

Planning and Preparation

Read blueprints and sketches to calculate required materials.
Measure build areas and set out guidelines, corners, and damp courses.
Mix, prepare, and apply mortar using a trowel.
Set up scaffolding and organize worksite safety measures.

Construction and Installation

Lay bricks, stone, concrete blocks, and structural tiles.
Check alignment using spirit levels, plumb lines, and squares.
Cut and trim blocks to exact specifications using hand or power tools.
Build residential or commercial chimneys, fireplaces, patios, and arches.
Install veneer facings or prefabricated masonry units.

Maintenance and Specialized Work

Repair, clean, or restore older masonry and cracked walls.
Line or reline industrial kilns, furnaces, and boilers with firebricks.
Maintain compliance with site safety rules and building regulations.

Qualifications

Secondary education is required

Courses in bricklaying is required

Training or experience is an asset

Good English communication is required

 

Skills

Should be in good physical condition, be aware of safety issues and have good manual dexterity

Need to have a good sense of balance to work with heavy equipment and materials on narrow platforms and scaffolds

Need to have a have an artistic eye and be able to recognize patterns, lines and proportions
