Job Duties:

·        Feed the machines and assist with setting-up various sections on machine accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques;

·        Adjust various settings as required depending on variables such as paper grade;

·        Prepare paper rolls (e.g. loading/feeding and cutting) and escalate any non-conformance;

·        Assist the machine operator with other tasks (e.g. changing parts, verify starch quality and temperature);

·        Participate in machine preventative maintenance operations and minor troubleshooting;

·        Clean up machine centre, and remove and store paper cores from the machine;

·        Obtain order and verify stock specifications and condition;

·        Monitor box quality and report any quality problems;

·        Comply with all company policies and procedures, including conduct, Health & Safety and maintaining good housekeeping, as well as all government regulations.

Experience Required:

·        A minimum of eighteen (18) months of experience working as an Assistant Printing Press Operator or Operator in the pulp and paper industry producing corrugated packaging.

 

Education Required:

·        Secondary (high) school certificate or equivalent experience.

 

Wage & Hours (as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement):

·        Wage: Between $25.84 and $28.52

·        Number of hours per day: 12

·        Number of days per week: 3 or 4 (in rotation)

·        Number of hours per week:  average of 42

·        Overtime starts after how many hours: Any hours beyond schedules hours

·        Shift rotation: day / night shifts

·        Shift premiums:

o   3:00PM to 11:00PM: 0.55$ per hour

o   11:00PM to 7:00AM: 0.85$ per hour
