Dr. Al’s Home Support Services is looking for a compassionate, experienced and reliable Health Care Aide to join our team of committed and amazing caregivers. This position is for a full-time, contract or term of 12 months employment with a strong possibility of becoming a continuing full time position pending review of job performance 3-12 months from date of hire.

·       College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience
Preference given to candidates with recent 5 years or more relevant work experience.

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities
Tasks
·       Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities
·       Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
·       Perform other duties related to personal care
·       Supply and empty bed pans
·       Take patients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse
·       Serve meal trays and feed patients
·       Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
·       Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms
·       Supervise patients’ exercise routines
·       Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas
·       Maintain inventory of supplies
·       Bathe, dress and groom patients
·       Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
·       Answer call signals to determine patients’ needs
·       Collect specimens
·       Administer first aid in emergency situations
Credentials
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
·      Active and valid Practice Permit as a Health Care Aide with College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA)
·       Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
·       First Aid Certificate
·       CPR Certificate
·       Health Care Aide Certificate
