Overview
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible to the Hatchery Operations Manager for the day-to-day operation of the hatchery. Responsibilities include coordinating the supply of eggs, chick delivery and the related documentation with each. The Hatchery Supervisor leads and motivates the team to achieve production targets while adhering to strict regulatory standards, and the highest standards of animal welfare.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Responsible for following biosecurity and other company policies.
Ø Responsible for being self-motivated and working independently.
Ø Responsible for the knowledge of all WHMIS and TDG regulations and procedures.
Ø Maintains knowledge of and executes all Company Safety Policies and Procedures as required by the organization and other regulatory agencies.
Ø Maintains and represents a professional and positive image for the company at all times.
Ø Performs other related duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Monitors and assists in supervising all Hatchery personnel to ensure smooth fulfillment of daily tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
2. Coordinates with the Farm Manager the supply and pick up of hatching eggs.
3. Coordinates with the Hatchery Operations Manager the supply, pick up and setting of hatching eggs, and chick delivery, ensuring efficient and cost-effective hatching and filling of orders to customers.
4. Coordinates with the sales personnel and customers on chick deliveries.
5. Coordinates all required documentation for chick deliveries both for domestic and international orders.
6. Coordinates export customs documentation for all egg and/or chick sales, including maintaining vet inspections, CFIA health papers, USDA/APHIS vet schedule.
7. Assists with filing, data entry and updating various spreadsheets.
8. Produces all the required weekly reports to the Egg Board and any other reporting bodies as needed.
9. Projects and reports on ongoing labour needs of the Hatchery.
10. Responsible for implementing and monitoring the sanitation and fumigation of hatchery facilities according to Company guidelines.
11. Monitors correct function and operation of incubators and hatchers, and the incubating process from setting through to hatching, and informs the Hatchery Operations Manager of needed repairs, etc.
12. Responsible for routine health maintenance program and for the reporting of any problem to the Manager. Obtains and coordinates flock health records, including lab reports/results.
13. Informs Hatchery Operations Manager immediately of concerns and/or problems.
14. Monitors supplies and replacement parts and refers order requests to the Manager.
15. Assists the Hatchery Operations Manager to develop, complete, monitor, evaluate and assess all hatchery records and statistics for quality and quantity of production.
16. Responsible for monitoring and responding to alarm calls of the hatchery.
17. Assists the Hatchery Operations Manager in the implementation and operation of the HACCP program.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· One (1) year directly related experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Grade 12 Education.
· University or college degree in Agriculture or related fields would be an asset to this position.
