Overview

Responsibilities:

preparing and cooking meals;
maintaining food quality, portion control, and presentation;
following food safety and sanitation requirements;
maintain a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen and food-preparation areas, including performing routine and deep cleaning of kitchen;
monitoring food and supply inventory; assisting with ordering and menu preparation;
assisting in menu planning; minimizing food waste; operating kitchen equipment safely;
working cooperatively with other staff members;
and performing other reasonable and ad hoc duties consistent with the position and operational needs of business.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Has:
2+ years of cooking experience
Fast, organized, and able to prioritize workload
Calm and diplomatic when dealing with challenging situations
Trustworthy and responsible
A team player who is willing to help wherever needed

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) as required
Ability to safely perform routine stocking, cleaning, opening, and closing duties

Qualifications:
English or French Speaking
2 years minimum of relevant professional experience

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable, and self-starting cook to join our team in New Denver, BC (509 Slocan Avenue), in the heart of the beautiful Kootenay region.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate about food and who enjoys small town living.

There is one (1) part-time seasonal position and (1) full-time permanent position.

Pay is $18.25-$21.00 depending on experience. Staff accommodation possible.
