Overview
East Ferris Bus Lines is currently recruiting for multiple openings to fill 7 existing vacancies and for future roles in the Student Transportation division.
This is a split shift with both morning and afternoon runs, so being CLOSE to our school coverage area is essential. The location of the parking lots, base and school bus pick up locations will be communicated based on current route assignments at the time of your hire date. These are permanent positions.
Your role:
Safely transport students within your community to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience each day
Prioritize student safety at all times, including during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle
Conduct thorough pre and post trip inspections to ensure the bus remains in proper and safe operating condition
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the bus, including assisting with fueling and basic upkeep to present a well kept, professional vehicle
Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting the safe operation of the vehicle
Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations
Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers
Your profile
You are safety-focused
You hold a valid minimum full Ontario G-class driver’s license, Preference will be given to B class drivers.
You are 21 years of age or over with minimum 1 year of driving experience in all weather conditions .
You possess a clean driving record and a criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening
You have a sound driving knowledge of the locations in this posting
You have the ability to work independently
You are available for split shifts in the morning and afternoon which could run: Monday – Friday between 6:00am – 9:30am and 1:30pm – 5pm, plus occasional charter runs if interested in extra hours.
You possess solid communication skills and must be fluent in English.
You must pass both the pre-hire driving assessment, and radio communication assessments or written evaluations.
You have basic computer skills and can easily navigate Google Maps or a GPS unit.

We offer a competitive hourly driving rate for Big Yellow, starting from $20.70
PLUS there is a $2,000 retention bonus for qualifying drivers – your commitment really PAYS!
You will be compensated for 30+ hours per week for these roles if you drive both the morning and afternoon runs for a and remain available for charters or additional runs.
