Key Responsibilities:
Checking formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and directing the placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade to meet client specifications.
Filling hollows and removing high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete.
Operating power vibrator equipment to compact concrete.
Levelling top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float.
Imparting desired texture and finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.
Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete.
Waterproofing, damp-proof and reconciling broken concrete surfaces.
Repairing, resurfacing, and replacing worn or damaged sections of floors, walls, roads and other concrete structures.
May be required to direct the work of other construction workers to achieve desired outcomes of job.
Key Qualifications:
High school diploma; 2–4-year apprenticeship, or 3+ years’ directly related experience in cement finishing
Experience working in a fast-paced work environment
Capable of handling/lifting heavy loads (more than 100 lbs)
Capable of carrying out repetitive activities in physically demanding work environment
Attention to detail in manual dexterity
Working under pressure to meet client deadlines
Have good hand-eye co-ordination and sound discrimination
Language: English (minimum CLB 4)
