Job Title: Child Caregiver – Special Needs

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location of Work: Kelowna, British Columbia (in-home)

 

Wage: $20 per hour (Overtime paid in accordance with provincial employment standards)

Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week. Flexible schedule may be required, including early mornings or evenings.

Language of Work: English

Start Date: July 1, 2026

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required

Experience:

·       Minimum 1 year working with children under the age of 5

·       Experience supporting school-aged children with special needs, including ADHD is required.

·       Post secondary education such as Early Childhood Educator Certificate is considered an asset.

·       Additional training or experience in special needs care, child development, or behavioural support is a strong asset.

·       Must have a valid driver’s license and knowledge about proper installation and use of car seats.

About Chandler Au Pairs

Job Duties:

·       Provide full-time, in-home childcare for three children in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.

·       Support children with special needs by following individualized routines, behavioural strategies, and care plans.

·       Supervise and assist children with daily activities including personal hygiene, dressing, meals, and rest periods.

·       Plan and engage children in age-appropriate educational, recreational, and developmental activities.

·       Prepare nutritious meals and snacks and assist with feeding as required.

·       Maintain a clean and organized environment related to childcare.

·       Accompany children to school, appointments, and activities as required.

·       Monitor children’s well-being and report progress or concerns to parents.

·       Ensure the physical and emotional safety of the children at all times.

·       Incidental household duties as needed such as running errands, grocery shopping, and pet care.

Security & Safety:

·       Criminal record check required.

·       First Aid and CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain).

Personal Suitability:

·       Patient and compassionate.

·       Reliable and trustworthy.

·       Strong communication skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple children independently.

·       Ability to respond calmly to challenging situations.

·       Comfortable working in a loud and busy household

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time position.
