Location of Work: Rural, Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula Region: Multiple farm locations per shift. Transportation provided from Mount Pearl, NL and/or nearby sites.

 

Title of Position: Chicken catcher (6 positions)

 

Terms of Employment (e.g. permanent, full-time, hours/week): Permanent, full-time, 30 hours/week.  Overtime may be required.  Shift work.

 

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

 

Job Duties:

–          Travel to multiple on-farm locations per shift (transportation provided – see above)

–          Catch and load live poultry into transport cages

–          Follow company procedures, including animal welfare and work place safety procedures

–          Operate farm machinery, as necessary

 

Skills requirements:

No language requirements.
No educational, experience or language requirements for this position. Training will be provided. The company maintains a Spanish interpreter on staff.
Position is physically demanding, and includes repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, walking for extended periods, and bending, crouching and kneeling.  Work site environment is dusty, odours.
Compensation:

1.       Salary: $20.05 per hour.  Overtime paid above 40 hours/ week.  Additional compensation based on performance.

Benefits: No benefits offered.  Shared accommodation available, if required.
Vacation: 10 paid vacation days per year.
