Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Business Tax Specialist and Bookkeeper to join our growing team. Due to continued business growth, we are expanding our tax and bookkeeping department and require an experienced professional who can support clients with tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, government remittances, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Knowledge of QuickBooks and Profile tax software would be considered an asset.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain, and balance financial records using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
- Prepare financial statements, year-end adjusting entries, account reconciliations, and annual reports.
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms, payroll remittances, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms, GST/HST returns, T4 and T5 returns, and other related tax slips and government documents.
- Assist clients with terminal T1 returns, T2 corporate tax returns, and T3 trust returns.
- Provide client consultation and representation for tax and bookkeeping matters.
- Prepare corporate resolutions and corporate elections.
- Assist with CRA audits, reviews, and client correspondence.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure confidentiality of financial information.
- Communicate with clients to collect required financial and tax documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, accounting standards, and government filing deadlines.
Employment Requirements / Qualifications (Applicants must meet the following requirements):
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation, or a related field.
- Completion of coursework, diploma, certificate, or training related to bookkeeping, tax reporting, or business accounting.
- Experience preparing Canadian personal and business tax returns.
- Knowledge of GST/HST returns, payroll remittances, and government filing requirements.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, general ledgers, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Experience with QuickBooks and Profile tax software is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work professionally with clients.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and assist with team development.
