Overview

Acumen Collision is looking for an experienced professional individual who will help the organization with its welding requirements by operating welding machines. The position requires the potential candidate to be able to work independently and have the skills in operating a multitude of welding equipment to weld metals as per job requirements.

Location

–          Mississauga, ON

Job Type

–          Full-time, Permanent (32-36 hours/week)

Salary

–          $26.50 per hour (paid bi-weekly)

Education

–          Completion of high school

Experience

–          1 year in relevant field is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·      Read and interpret welding blueprints and process specifications.

·      Must be qualified in the welding processes such as arc welding (SMAW), gas welding, MIG welding (metal inert gas or GMAW) and TIG welding (tungsten inert gas or GTAW) on variety of materials.

·      Safely and effectively operate brazing and soldering equipment for repair work.

·      Able to fabricate frames or structures from pipe, rectangle and/or angle metal-strips as per specifications.

·      Able to set-up and operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting machine.

·      Restore worn metal parts or components by welding new layers.

·      Able to use metal bending, shearing, and straightening machines.

·      Inspect finished welded products and conduct rework if needed.

·      Ensure all safety measures and protocols are followed as per company policies.

 

Skills Required

·      Safely utilizes various metal shop tools including horizontal band saw, chop saw, angle grinder, die grinder, magnetic drill, manual pipe bender, shearing machine and straightening machine.

·      Ability to work from verbal instructions.

·      Able to set-up work area based on instructions received.

·      Team work and great problem solving skills
