THE ROLE:

 

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator Crew Supervisor to lead our dynamic team in a variety of storm, sanitary, watermain construction and demolition projects from all sizes of site servicing projects to institutional, commercial, industrial and municipal contracts. The successful candidate will have hands on experience in the field with a working knowledge of the industry and a proven track record leading a crew specializing in demolition, water utility installs, and excavating.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Heavy Equipment Operator Crew Supervisor is responsible for overseeing our team of Heavy Equipment Operators. The prime responsibility is to use their knowledge of Baldwin’s systems to ensure that workers are carrying out work as per the project instructions issued by head office.

•         Coordinate and schedule crew tasks according to priorities and plans.

•         Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew members.

•         Allocate general and daily responsibilities to crew members.

Supervise and train crew members in accordance with BCS’ bespoke systems.
Ensure manpower and resources are adequate for the project.
Monitor all safety precautions are being adhered to and ensure quality standards are met.
Supervise the use of specialised machinery and equipment.
Resolve and identify potential onsite issues as and when they arise.
Update senior management on progress of projects.
Ensure that the correct piece of equipment is sent to the correct site for the type of work that is being carried out.
Work with superintendents of each site to ensure smooth operation of each project.
Operate equipment such as:
Excavators from 3ton to 50ton
Wheel loaders
Skid-steers with many different attachments.
Packers
REQUIREMENTS

•         At least two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a construction environment.

•         Trade Certificate in construction related industry.

•         Experience operating a range of heavy equipment machinery.

•         Fluent written and oral English.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

 

•         Excellent communication skills.

•         Ability to collaborate with crew members and other construction industry professionals to complete projects.

•         Understanding of costs, schedules, and budgets.

•         Ability to motivate on-site crew members and effectively allocate resources.

•         Following, implementing, and managing on site- safety and quality control measures.

•         Working Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal regulations and safety codes.

•         Ability to solve problems and make on the spot decisions.

•         Willingness to travel to different construction sites in the Greater Calgary Area.
