Overview

  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote thephysical, cog-nitive, emotional and social development of children,
  • Storytelling,
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest,
  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children,
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity,
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits,
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisor.
  • Weekly Hours: 35-40 hours / week
  • Wage: $26.00 / hr including Wage Enhancement
  • Supplemental pay types: Overtime pay
  • Work hours: 8:00am-4:30pm / 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Job Requirements:

  • Must Have BC Early Childhood Educator License to Practice.
  • Be fluent in English (written and orally), additional languages an asset.
  • Have excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to follow practices and procedures set out in the policy and procedure manual.
  • Ability to supervise and reflect upon the duties of both volunteers and practicum students.
  • Understand child growth and development for children ages 2.5 to 5 years.
  • Ability to physically complete the duties of the job. Including sitting, standing for long periods, twisting, and carrying children
