Focus
CFP’s Osoyoos packing facilities receive fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sort it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Safe, seamless production flow and shipping procedures, adherence to customer specifications, quality control, and grower relations are important aspects of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Working closely with other members of the management team to achieve production, quality, and shipping goals and to maintain safe work operations
- Efficient, clean, organized, and safe set-up and supervision of quality control areas and production lines, including:

- Supervise, coach, and train quality control and production line employees, providing guidance on quality-related job tasks
- Coordinate grower changes and line changeovers as they occur to sales orders
- Ensure quality assessment equipment is checked and maintained
- Ensure the grading queue (Aurora), PLU machine, and SIMS computer are properly set up for the packing line prior to start-up and monitor the systems during packing, making adjustments and resolving overweight/underweight cases as needed
- Create and manage hourly employees’ work schedules
- Ensure fruit is packed to required quality specifications and food safety standards by performing and/or ensuring quality control checks are done at regular intervals on the packing line and on packed product and completing all related documentation
- Operate equipment to analyze fruit for export, including brix apparatus, pressure tester, Durafil, and Firm Tech
- Assess incoming fruit for quality as needed and perform product inspections at shipping point
- Ensure employees follow all legislative and organizational policies and procedures
- Analyze packinghouse operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement action plans to execute improvement
- Develop performance metrics and targets consistent with overall business goals
- Identify, communicate, troubleshoot and/or escalate issues to appropriate member(s) of management for resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement in systems and procedures to achieve production objectives
- Work with Food Safety Team to ensure compliance with all legislative and organizational policies and procedures
- Participate in monthly inventory process
- Participate as a member of the Health and Safety Committee
- Completion of other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills
- Completion of secondary school
- Minimum of two years of experience supervising employees
- Minimum of two years of experience in food safety and quality control procedures
- Minimum of one year of experience in occupational health and safety procedures
- Minimum of one year of experience in agriculture/horticulture and produce packing facility experience
- Proficiency in English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency in computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working Conditions
Work is conducted indoors and outdoors at a fruit processing plant environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. This position is full-time. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations typical, with extremely limited days off through peak months (i.e. June through October).

- Frequent standing and walking, including climbing stairs
- Frequent sitting on and climbing on and off of forklift, including ability to grasp, manipulate, and move levers, foot pedals, and steering wheel knobs
- Frequent lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, stacking, and carrying of up to 25 kilograms (50 pounds)
Status: Salary, Full time, Permanent
Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 annually
Vacation: 3 weeks
