Don Mills Health Clinic is seeking a Bookkeeper responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring efficient financial reporting tailored to the healthcare environment. This role supports the clinic’s financial integrity, compliance, and administrative success.

This posting is also intended to support an extension of the work permit for the incumbent employee, who has been performing this role effectively and is needed to continue supporting ongoing financial operations.

$30-$32/hour for 37.5 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Reconcile patient billing accounts, insurance payments, and third-party payment transactions
  • Prepare and process payroll for clinic staff in compliance with federal/provincial standards
  • Maintain and balance general ledger accounts, trial balances, and financial journals
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review
  • Assist with budgeting and cash-flow tracking for clinic operations
  • Prepare and submit government remittances (CPP/EI/HST) and payroll source deductions
  • Reconcile bank statements and oversee daily cash deposits and electronic transfers
  • Work with the clinic’s EMR billing system and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) to ensure accurate entries
  • Coordinate with external accountants for tax filings and year-end reporting
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial compliance reviews
  • Maintain organized and secure financial records and documentation
  • Provide financial information and reports to clinic management as requested
  • Support administrative tasks related to billing processes and financial correspondence

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience as a bookkeeper or accounting technician, including experience within a healthcare or clinical environment preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with financial record-keeping, reconciliations, payroll processing, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong understanding of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and HST/GST reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations and data entry
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity
  • Experience with patient billing systems, multi-payer environments, or healthcare EMR integrated billing is an asset
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with duties of a Health Clinic and specific skills, experience, and institutional knowledge necessary to maintain continuity of financial operations of the clinic will be considered an asset
