Compensation & Schedule
●      Wage: $36.60 per hour + performance and event bonuses

●      Type: Full-time, permanent (30 to 40 hours/week).

●      Overtime: Paid as per BC Employment Standards.

●      Vacation: 4% of gross earnings (equivalent to 2 weeks of paid vacation time) per year.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

Academy Leadership & Staff Management

 

●      Team Building: Recruit, train, and mentor assistant instructors and volunteers, ensuring technical consistency across all classes.

●      Schedule Management: Oversee and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate instructor coverage for all classes, camps, and special events across multiple locations.

●      Performance Review: Conduct regular evaluations of instructional staff, providing feedback on teaching methodologies and class management.

 

Program Management & Growth

●      Curriculum Direction: Design, implement, and refine the technical curriculum for programs aligned with World Taekwondo standards.

●      Testing Logistics: Fully manage belt-testing logistics, including candidate selection, scheduling, panel organization, and certification processing.

●      Dojang Growth: Develop strategies to increase student enrollment and retention, including overseeing trial lessons and conversion of new students.

●      Event Management: Plan and execute academy events, including tournaments, seminars, and seasonal camps.

 

Student & Family Relations
●      Member Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding student progress, behavioural guidance, and program pathways.

●      Conflict Resolution: Proactively manage and resolve inquiries or concerns from parents and students to maintain a positive community environment.

●      Progress Tracking: Oversee the student tracking system to ensure students are progressing through belt ranks appropriately and meeting technical milestones.

 

High-Performance Instruction
●      Elite Coaching: Lead high-performance training sessions for competitive athletes in Kyorugi (sparring) or Poomsae (patterns), preparing them for provincial, national, and international competitions.

●      Technical Authority: Act as the final authority on technical standards within the dojang, providing advanced correction and instruction to senior students and black belts.

 

Skills and Qualifications Required
●     Education: Secondary school (High School) graduation is required.

●     Certification: Must hold a valid Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters) Black Belt.

●     Experience:

○     Minimum 5 years of experience in Taekwondo coaching and competition.

○     Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a martial arts school.

●     Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage staff schedules, organize large-scale events (tournaments/testing), and handle administrative logistics.

●     Specialization: Expert-level technical knowledge in World Taekwondo sparring (Kyorugi) rules and regulations or high-performance Poomsae.

●     Language: Proficiency in English is required (verbal and written).
