Telecommunication Line Technician

Salary: $32.00 hourly / 30 to 40 hours per week, Permanent, Full time, Morning, Evening, Weekend, Starts as soon as possible

Languages: English

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

On the road: Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.

Work site environment: Outdoors, At heights

Work setting: Installation, Maintenance, On-site customer service, Remote location, Telecommunications company, Various locations

Responsibilities:

Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment
Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
Test equipment to locate transmission faults
Complete and maintain test and service reports
Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures
Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets
Splice, join and connect wires
Credentials: Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Working at heights training, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate

Experience and specialization: Fibre optics, Aerial and underground cable lines

Security and safety: Criminal record check

Transportation/travel information: Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel

Work conditions and physical capabilities, Attention to detail, Repetitive tasks, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, physically demanding, Manual dexterity
