Overview

Position Info:

·         Position: Chef

·         Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent

·         Wage: $26-27/hour (depending on experience)

·         Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week

·         Number of Positions:  1

·         Work Location: 112-805 W Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1K1

Benefits:

·         4 % vacation pay

Job Duties:

·         Prepare and cook a variety of Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi and hot kitchen items, ensuring consistency and high quality

·         Oversee the daily activities of cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and smooth kitchen operations

·         Develop and adjust menu items while maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation and portion control

·         Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the ordering of food ingredients and kitchen supplies as required

·         Provide training and guidance to kitchen staff on proper food preparation techniques, cooking procedures and safe food handling practices

·         Keep records related to food costs, inventory usage and kitchen supplies to support effective kitchen management

Job requirements:

·         Experience: 2-3 years of commercial cooking experience is required

·         Education: Completion of secondary school is required

·         Language: English
