Wage: $   21-27    /Hourly CAD. Overtime rate will be paid 1.5 times the regular rate if employees work more than 40.00 hours per week.

Work of Hours:   40   hour(s) per week.

Founded in 2008, Little Koala Montessori Academy expanded to its Blundell location in 2011 and the Surrey location in 2013. In 2017, Little Koala Montessori Academy opened its third location in the City of Abbotsford.

At Little Koala Montessori Academy, we provide high-quality Early Childhood Education. We use Montessori materials and a Reggio Emilia inspired classroom environment to support children’s development. We care about the WHOLE CHILD, including children’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and developmental well-being.

This is a full-time position and is to start as soon as all the necessary documents are provided. Only candidates holding E.C.E.A. certifications will be contacted.


  • Education Level: Diploma
  • Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate
  • Completion of Child development assistant (ECE level 1)
  • Licensing by provincial (BC) Early Childhood Educator registry for early childhood educator assistant (ECEA) is required.
  • Ability to work on a team basis with other staff members
  • Good communication skills; written and verbal in English
  • Strong organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR
  • Experience: we will provide the necessary training.

Key Responsibility of Early Childhood Educator Assistant

  • Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act;
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations;
  • Establish guidelines for behaviour;
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children;
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest; provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity;
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits; Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor;
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children;
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members;
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

Additional Skills

  • Order supplies and equipment;
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records;
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children;
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours;
  • Storytelling
