Machi Sushi is currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position in a fast-paced restaurant setting located in an urban area away from downtown. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to work under pressure with Japanese cuisine experience and a commitment to quality food preparation and kitchen operations.

Terms of employment: Full-time Permanent

Wages: $26/hour

Hours of work: 32.5-40 Hours/week, variable on business’s needs

Benefits: 4% vacation pay

Location of work: 2583 Cadboro Bay Rd, Victoria, BC

 

Responsibilities & Tasks

Prepare & cook complete meals or individual dishes

Inspect kitchens & food service areas

Train staffs in preparation, cooking & handling of food

Order supplies & equipment

Maintain inventory & records of food, supplies & equipment

Clean kitchen & work areas

Manage kitchen operations

Help cut sashimi and make sushi rolls when needed

Qualifications:

Secondary (high school) education required

Minimum 3 years of cooking experience

1-2 years’ Japanese cuisine experience is an asset

Able to perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks

Standing for extended periods; work under pressure
