Overview

We are looking for an experienced and energetic home childcare provider to care for four (4) children at the family’s home and while travelling, who will be responsible to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which the children can thrive and develop. The responsibilities also include light housework duties and cooking.
CHILDREN RELATED
• Provide all aspects of childcare for the children
• Create and maintain a healthy, safe and nurturing environment for the children.
• Take the children to and from appointments and activities.
• Organize and participate in various leisure activities at home and outdoors (includingswimming).
• Stimulate/promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
• Provide developmentally appropriate educational games.
• Arts & crafts, reading books, going to library.
• Take children to parks and playgrounds.
• Homework supervision and basic tutoring.
• Bath and assistance with dressing.
• Help children with general hygiene.
COOKING
• Prepare lunches and occasional dinners.
HOUSEHOLD CHORES
• Daily tidying of the house and putting items away.
• Laundry of the children’s clothes.
• Cleaning the children’s environment.
OTHER DUTIES
• Frequent domestic and international travel with the family for up to ten (10) weeks at a time.

JOB DETAILS
– Location: Burnaby, BC
– Intended pay rate: $25 per hour.
– Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
– Duration: 1-year full-time contract
– Hours: Approximately 45-50 hours per week. Variable hours, including some evenings and weekends. Typically but not always Monday to Friday. Two days off per week. Regular overtime work required.
– Work Setting: Private home
– Languages: English essential
– Minimum experience: minimum 1 year of child caregiving experience
– Education: Some secondary school
– Training and other requirements: First/Aid CPR certification. Valid Drivers License. Must know how to swim.
– Personal suitability: initiative; reliability; organization; flexibility; trustworthiness
– Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks; Work under pressure; Physically demanding; Overtime requirements
– Transportation/Travel information: employer to pay travel expenses
