Head Chef
We are seeking one (1) experienced Head Chef with minimum 2-3 years of experience to join us at a Korean restaurant located at North York, Ontario. Previous supervisory experience is required. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a dedication to culinary innovation, outstanding leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of strategic business concepts. Serving as the Head Chef, you’ll be involved in crafting our culinary selections, overseeing kitchen functions, and helping business growth.
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time, 40 hours/week
Salary Range: $28.50-29.50/hour
Paid vacation days and public holidays: 3 weeks a year
Location: 3220 Dufferin St, North York, Ontario M6A 2T3
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Request food and kitchen supplies as needed
· Maintain records pertaining to food costs, usage, sales, and inventory
· Analyze operational expenditures and other relevant data
· Showcase novel cooking methods and introduce new kitchen equipment to staff
· Oversee the tasks of specialized chefs, cooks, and other kitchen personnel
· Provide guidance to cooks on food preparation, cooking techniques, garnishing, and food presentation
· Prepare and cook entire meals and specialty dishes for special guests and events such as banquets
· Supervise 3-4 cooks and other kitchen helpers
· Coordinate equipment procurement and maintenance tasks
· Develop menus and ensure food quality standards are met
· Accommodate customers with food allergies or intolerances by preparing suitable dishes
· Engage in staff recruitment and hiring processes
Requirements:
· A secondary school diploma is required.
· Minimum 2 years of experience as Korean chef
· Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated capability to perform effectively under pressure, including the ability to stand for prolonged periods and engage in physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, walking, and standing.
· Must possess proven supervisory and culinary skills and demonstrate a professional attitude.
