Overview:
We are seeking two dedicated Personal Support Workers to join a busy household with two children, including one physically disabled teenager requiring both medical and personal care. The role requires a compassionate team player who is reliable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining a safe and supportive home environment.

Position Details:

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 30–35 hours per week (negotiable)
Wage: $29.00 per hour
Work Environment: Non-smoking, scent-free home with 3 cats.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day medical and personal care for the disabled teenager, including but not limited to:
  • Administering daily medications
  • Assisting with the use of medical devices such as ventilator (BiPap), cough-assist, and oximeter (training will be provided)
  • Performing daily stretches and massages
  • Cleaning and maintaining medical devices
  • Providing physical assistance with showering, toileting, and other daily activities
  • Perform lifting as required
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe environment
  • Work flexible shifts, which may include:
    Day Shift 1: 6:00–8:00, 15:00–20:00
    Day Shift 2: 7:00–15:00
    Night Shift: 20:00–6:00
    Holiday Day Shift: 7:00–19:00
    Holiday Night Shift: 19:00–7:00
  • Record detailed medical journals for team handovers and family use
  • Accompany the teenager to medical appointments
  • Conduct weekly stock-taking of medical supplies
  • Assist with basic housekeeping duties
  • Provide daily updates and reports to the parents

Requirements:

  • Minimum secondary school education (High School Graduation Certificate required)
  • At least two years of relevant experience is an asset.
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate is an asset
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Medical background and/or caregiving experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and holidays
  • Basic cooking skills preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely
  • Patience and the ability to build rapport with teenagers
  • Commitment to high standards of hygiene and safety
  • Willingness to assist other team members when needed
  • Live-in candidates preferred
  • A valid, clean driver’s license is considered an advantage
