Position Info:

·         Position: Head Chef

·         Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent

·         Wage: $37.00/hour

·         Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week

·         Number of Positions:  1

·         Work Location: 1-612 Head Street, Victoria, BC V9A 5S8

Job Duties:

·         Develop and oversee menu offerings by designing new recipes and ensuring all dishes consistently meet the restaurant’s quality and presentation standards

·         Provide leadership to chefs, cooks, and kitchen personnel, including guidance on food preparation, cooking techniques, plating, and kitchen organization

·         Independently prepare and cook complete meals and a variety of specialty Japanese dishes as part of daily kitchen operations

·         Deliver ongoing training to kitchen staff on proper food handling, preparation methods, and the safe and efficient use of kitchen equipment

·         Assess daily and weekly requirements for ingredients and supplies, and coordinate the requisition of food products and materials

·         Maintain accurate records of food and supply costs, inventory levels, consumption patterns, and waste management to support operational efficiency

·         Review and analyze labour and operating costs to support effective kitchen planning and cost-control strategies

·         Prepare customized dishes to accommodate guests with food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary preferences

Job requirements:

·         Language: English

·         Experience: 3-5 years of commercial cooking experience is required

·         Education: Completion of secondary school is required
