Job Description
Tea Pot China Bistro is now seeking a well experienced and passionate PASTRY COOK to join our amazing culinary team. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. If you have a strong background in the food industry, possess excellent culinary skills, and have a passion for creating delicious pastries, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook bread, pastries, cakes, pies and other pastry-based items in accordance with existing menu
- Accommodate and handle guest special requests and guest allergies to ensure guest health and satisfaction
- Work with dim sum chef and participate in menu planning, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient production flow
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas
- Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed
- Provide training and direction to new team members
- Order supplies and equipment
- Control food costs by maintaining accurate records of all food ingredients and ensure that food waste is kept to a minimum
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and work areas
- Manage kitchen operations
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Energetic with a passion for baking and pastry
- Minimum 1 year of professional baking or pastry preparation experience
- Proficient in food preparation techniques specific to pastry making
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule including morning, day, evening shift, weekend, and holidays
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organization & time management skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate to heavy loads
- Experience and knowledge of Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, is an asset
Education:
- College/CEGE
- Graduation from a Baking and Pastry Arts program
