Job Description

Tea Pot China Bistro is now seeking a well experienced and passionate PASTRY COOK to join our amazing culinary team. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. If you have a strong background in the food industry, possess excellent culinary skills, and have a passion for creating delicious pastries, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook bread, pastries, cakes, pies and other pastry-based items in accordance with existing menu
  • Accommodate and handle guest special requests and guest allergies to ensure guest health and satisfaction
  • Work with dim sum chef and participate in menu planning, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient production flow
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas
  • Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed
  • Provide training and direction to new team members
  • Order supplies and equipment
  • Control food costs by maintaining accurate records of all food ingredients and ensure that food waste is kept to a minimum
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen and work areas
  • Manage kitchen operations
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Energetic with a passion for baking and pastry
  • Minimum 1 year of professional baking or pastry preparation experience
  • Proficient in food preparation techniques specific to pastry making
  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule including morning, day, evening shift, weekend, and holidays
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organization & time management skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must have physical stamina to lift moderate to heavy loads
  • Experience and knowledge of Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, is an asset

Education:

  • College/CEGE
  • Graduation from a Baking and Pastry Arts program

Languages:

  • English

Salary:

  • $17.00 per hour

Expected hours:

  • 35-40 hours per week

Schedule:

  • Moring,  Day, Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed
  • Holidays as needed

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of baking or pastry experience

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: As soon as possible
