Overview

Imagine spending your summer somewhere that truly matters—where every day brings a chance to make a real
difference for wild animals in need. A place where your hard work helps a hummingbird take flight again, where
your patience helps an orphaned swallow learn to survive on its own, and where your compassion becomes part
of a wild animal’s second chance at life.

Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is hiring Wildlife Care Assistants and Wildlife Rescue Dispatchers, through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Position Profiles:
Wildlife Care Assistants are an essential component of our summer team, providing hands-on care
to our wildlife patients. Through real-world learning opportunities, youth will gain valuable knowledge
of wildlife natural history, physiology, behaviour, nutrition, and workplace health and safety—all while
building important skills for future career development.

Wildlife Rescue Dispatchers are the first point of contact for community members seeking help for
injured or orphaned wildlife. In this role, youth gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a fast-paced,
high-volume helpline and admissions environment, developing a strong understanding of how wildlife
care, public education, and compassionate communication work together to support animals in need.

Position type: Program dates run from April 20, 2026, to August 29, 2026. The exact hours and length of placements
are not known until they are granted and announced by the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Compensation: $18.85 per hour

Eligibility: For a Canada Summer Jobs opportunity, youth must meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection applies, and have
